Today, I am going to share with you a few tips that has helped us create 10s of successfull blogs for our enterprise clients.
Here are some of the tips to help you create a successful blog that helps you achieve your business goals:
1. Write Long, Informative Posts
No matter what anyone says, content is still king and having great content still pays off.
Research shows that the average word count of posts ranking on the homepage is 1500 and lengthier posts rank higher.
However, that doesn't mean your blog posts should be long just for the sake of reaching the 3000 word count.
The post should be well-formatted with proper headings, "strong" tags, links, images and indentation. A user should be able to skim through your post.
A good trick is to break you post into various pages. You can then use JavaScript to let your users navigate to various sections of your article. Say, you are writing a post on iPhone 14.
You can breakdown your blog post into sections like Introductions, Features, Performance, Pros & Cons etc. Then, provide links to those sections on your post and have users navigate to the section they want to read.
You can use canonical tags and rel=next/previous tags in your code so that Google sees all the various sections as part of a single post and gives all authority to the canonical link.
2. Create an Email List
You cannot always rely on 3rd party traffic sources for visitors. You eventually have to find a way to retain the hard-earned visitors and send them new content/product updates at regular intervals. Place an optin box on your most popular pages and provide your users with an incentive to subscribe to your email list.
Then, make sure that you hook your subscribers on with good quality content that is valuable to them. This way, they will keep coming back to your blog for more.
3. Share your Posts on FaceBook, Telegram, Instagram and Twitter
I know you have heard it a hundred times, but many hardly do this the way that reaps more benefits. Simply pasting the link on your FaceBook page will work 1 out of 100 times, if you are lucky. You have to do something different to make the fans and their friends click to see more of what you are offering.
You can do this by having an eye catchy title and an exqually teasing image on your FaceBook shares. Afterwards, make sure that you spend a bit of money to advertise it to your fans and followers.
4. Check Analytics, Contantly
You should always keep an eye on where your visitors are coming from, where they are landing and how they are leaving you blog. This will help you devise a strategy to minimize bounce rate, increase pageviews and give you ideas on what you should write about next.
Find our what type of content your visitors enjoy the most and write similar content that adds even more value to your blog. Always ensure that the bounce rate remains as low as possible.
Google considers bounce rate as one of the various factors when ranking a page. Make sure you place relevant content at key places on your blog so that your users read more or what you have to offer.
With that said, you shouldn't get into a habit of checking stats more than once per day as it will suck in your valuable time and you won't do anything else that acutally increases your blog's traffic.
Here are a couple more links to help you create a custom Analytics dashboard with key elements for checking essential stats of your blog.
5. Have a Professional Looking Blog
You need a professional, clean, well-optimized website to make sure you don't leave a bad impression on your visitor's minds. A good design not only makes it easy to read the content you have to offer, it also helps with increasing page views by offering more content to visitors in an eye-catching way and also allows them to take the action you want them to take.
6. Guest Post on Key Niche Sites
Every niche has a few hundred blogs that some would call "successfull" or "authoritative". Your job is to get your content approved on these key blogs in order to gain additional recognition and trust.
Guest blogging will not only help you network with other bloggers in your industry, but it will also help you drive more referral and organic traffic as well.
Most blogs allow guest authors to place a linkback on the guest post and this helps you drive more traffic.
However, make sure that you don't overdo it or do it in a wrong way. For example, placing a guest post on one authority blog is better than placing 100 guest posts on 100 spammy websites that have slim original content.
