Realme is preparing to unveil a new smartphone in India featuring a periscope zoom camera in the near future. The Chinese electronics company has offered hints about the launch of this flagship device through a teaser on various social media platforms, without confirming the exact name or release date. Speculation suggests that it might be the Realme 12 Pro+, potentially succeeding the Realme 11 Pro+ released in the country in July.
Realme recently teased the launch of a new smartphone in India through a post on X. The accompanying tweet, with the tagline "No Periscope. No Flagship," implies enhanced optical zoom capabilities.
The teaser image displays the rear of the device, showcasing a distinctive ring. Realme introduced the Realme GT 5 Pro earlier in the month, marking its first flagship phone equipped with a periscope telephoto camera. While the official moniker remains unconfirmed, there are speculations that the Realme 12 Pro+ might be revealed soon.
In a separate development, tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) reposted the teaser image, asserting that the Realme 12 Pro+ is expected to launch by the end of January or in February of the following year. The smartphone is rumored to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 series chipset, likely the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC.
Regarding other anticipated specifications of the Realme 12 Pro+, reports suggest it will feature a 64-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Priced around CNY 2,000 (approximately Rs. 23,000), the device is anticipated to target the mid-range smartphone segment and may be unveiled alongside the Realme 12 and Realme 12 Pro.
The Realme 11 Pro+ made its debut in India in June with an initial price of Rs. 27,999. Running on Android 13-based Realme UI 4.0 custom skin, the phone is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, a 200-megapixel triple rear camera setup, and a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC.
