According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is set to unveil iOS 18 in June 2024 during WWDC, with this update being considered one of the biggest in the company's history.
Gurman shared in his Power On newsletter that iOS 18 would bring substantial changes to address user, developer, and regulatory demands. One major upgrade is the enhanced use of generative AI, making Siri more intelligent and capable, potentially utilizing a Large Language Model for complex tasks.
Beyond Siri improvements, iOS 18 is expected to introduce AI features in the Messages app for answering questions and completing sentences, AI enhancements for Apple Music to create automatically generated playlists, and generative AI features for iWork apps like Keynote and Pages. Additionally, developers using Xcode may benefit from generative AI features to speed up the application development process.
