Kylian Mbappé and Lee Kang-in each found the net, propelling Paris Saint-Germain to a 2-0 victory over French Cup champions Toulouse in the Champions Trophy on Wednesday.
In the third minute, Lee capitalized on Ousmane Dembélé's first-time pass to give PSG an early lead. Toulouse's left-back, Gabriel Suazo, missed an opportunity to level the score in the 18th minute when he failed to connect with a pass over the defense from midfielder Aron Donnum.
Despite close attempts from Dembélé and winger Bradley Barcola, PSG saw a moment of luck in the 44th minute. Kylian Mbappé seized the opportunity, receiving Barcola's pass and defeating 18-year-old goalkeeper Guillaume Restes from near the penalty spot.
This goal brought Mbappé's total to 22 in 23 matches this season, extending his PSG scoring record to 234 since joining the team in the summer of 2017.
The Champions Trophy, traditionally held abroad as a preseason opener, was initially planned for Bangkok in August but relocated in June due to a local organizer's withdrawal. Contrary to expectations of hosting it in Saudi Arabia or Qatar, the French league opted to stage the match on home turf at PSG's stadium in Paris.
