Apple has revised its battery health estimate for the iPhone 15, now asserting that the device can retain 80% of battery health even after 1000 charging cycles, doubling the initial promise of 500 cycles. This update aligns with new EU regulations assigning energy grades based on a smartphone's battery longevity.
The adjustment doesn't require any hardware or software updates and follows the company's retesting of the iPhone 15 series, revealing that the phones exhibit better long-term battery health than initially anticipated. Apple plans to update all support documents with the revised figures.
With the upcoming iOS 17.4 update, Apple will introduce a feature displaying battery cycle counts under Battery Health in Settings. The company recommends operating temperatures between 62 and 72 degrees Fahrenheit for optimal performance.
