Reportedly, Google is considering renaming its AI assistant Bard to Gemini, aligning with the name of the foundation model behind the assistant. A recent changelog from Google on February 7 notes the shift from "Bard" to "Gemini."
The Advanced model, previously Bard Advanced, is expected to be introduced as "Gemini Advanced," with access to Gemini Ultra. Gemini Ultra, optimized for complex tasks, may be offered in a tiered system.
Following the rebranding, Google's AI chatbot, now Gemini, is likely to have its Android app, similar to the Google Assistant app. Initially available in the US on select devices like Pixel and Galaxy S24 series, the app is anticipated to expand to more regions and languages after the initial rollout.
Recent enhancements to Bard include image generation with the Imagen 2 model, and expanded availability of the AI chat assistant, powered by the Gemini Pro model, in multiple regions and supporting over 40 languages, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and more.
