The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra underwent camera tests at DxOMark, yielding a disappointing score of 144 points despite its hefty price tag of Rs 1,29,999. This places it behind not only similarly priced competitors like the iPhone 15 Pro Max but also the Pixel 8 and last year's iPhone 14 Pro.
While Samsung touts its S24 Ultra as featuring its most advanced camera system, DxOMark's assessment is less than favorable, ranking it 18th on the leaderboard. Such a score is unexpected for a flagship device like the S24 Ultra, which typically aims to lead or at least podium in DxOMark rankings.
Compared to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, the Samsung device scores lower in both photo and video categories, with its overall score being notably impacted by its lower score of 137 points in video recording, compared to the iPhone's 158 points.
Despite this, DxOMark acknowledges the S24 Ultra's capabilities, noting its satisfactory performance across various photography scenarios. The pros include commendations for zoom performance, color rendering, details in good light, portrait mode, and exposure handling. However, cons such as loss of detail and noise in low-light conditions, along with white balance instabilities, are also noted.
Interestingly, DxOMark also points out the S24 Ultra's camera speed issues, highlighting a noticeable delay between pressing the shutter and capturing images in various conditions.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra excels in display performance, earning the top spot in DxOMark's Display protocol ranking with 155 points, one point ahead of the previous leader, the Pixel 8 Pro. This marks a significant improvement over its predecessor, the S23 Ultra, across various attributes.
