X, formerly known as Twitter, is set to introduce audio and video calls for non-paying users, according to Elon Musk, the platform's owner. Initially launched for paying iOS subscribers, the feature has now expanded to Android users.
While X Premium subscription is still promoted for some calling features, the recent update enables non-paying users to make calls. Enrique Barragan, an X engineer, announced the gradual rollout of audio and video calling for non-premium users, with settings allowing users to customize call preferences and reduce unwanted calls by limiting them to those who have been messaged at least once.
