According to a report by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is gearing up for major product launches in March or April, which are anticipated to include new iPad Pro models featuring OLED displays, a revamped iPad Air lineup, and upgraded MacBook Air laptops powered by the new M3 chip.
Unlike previous spring events, Apple does not plan to hold a special event for these product unveilings. Instead, the company will opt for online announcements.
Apple will depart from its usual spring event format and will not host a live-streamed keynote address. Instead, the new products will be introduced through online announcements.
The upcoming spring lineup is expected to include high-end iPad Pro models with OLED displays and Apple's new M3 chip. These redesigned models are anticipated to be thinner than the current generation.
Apple plans to update the iPad Air lineup, possibly introducing a new 12.9-inch model, a first for the mid-tier tablet lineup. Additionally, several new iPad accessories are reportedly in development, including refreshed versions of the Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard.
Upgraded MacBook Air models equipped with Apple's next-generation M3 chip are on the horizon. These new chips are expected to enhance performance compared to the current M2 chip found in the 13-inch MacBook Air and lower-end Pro models.
Gurman predicts that the new iPad and Mac models will be released in late March or early April. Additionally, Apple is preparing a special iOS 17.4 software update to support the new hardware, which is expected to roll out before the end of the month.
These product launches come approximately one year after Apple's previous spring event in April 2022, where they unveiled the fifth-generation iPhone SE, the M1 Ultra chip for the Mac Studio desktop, and other new products.
